Today’s creative inspiration comes from the Minimalist Wallet by Noodlehead! The pattern comes with easy to understand instructions and clear images to help you along the way. Once the fabric is cut out it only takes about an hour to sew up. It is also a great stash buster as it doesn’t require a lot of fabric to make. Sew easy!
The wallet has a pocket at the front for a few cards, a zipper for your change and a third compartment for your folded bills. It has a tab with a snap to secure all your belongings inside.
This design for this wallet offers you an option for a main and a coordinating fabric; allowing you to have fun choosing your fabric. Be subtle or wild and crazy, co-ordinate it with your purse, or make something totally different! If you do attempt to use a piece of leather for the tab, be careful to get the correct snap for the right type of fabric (or leather). I learned this the hard way and ended up switching to a fabric tab in the accent fabric.
This will be a great wallet for traveling and with that in mind I actually sewed in RFID protecting fabric so that my cards and ID will be safe. RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. Many credit cards, passports, and driver’s licenses now come with embedded radio frequency identification chips that can be scanned and copied by not very nice people trying to steal your identity and credit card info. The RFID fabric is kind of like lining that you would sew into a jacket. It sews in well and there is no way of telling that it is there when sewn in between your exterior and interior fabric.
Happy sewing!
